Established in 1902, by E. D. Loos, Loos Machine Shop has undergone a lot of changes in 100 plus years.  The business has had 4 owners: E. D. Loos from 1902-1931, Sherman Loos from 1931-1943, a partnership between Sherman, Clinton, and Vernon Loos from 1943-1981, and finally Kurt Mertens and Dennis Baumgartner from 1981-present as a corporation, Loos Machine Inc. 

Loos provides engineering, machining, welding, and fabricating services.  What had started out as a small maintenance and repair shop for the local area farmer is now a thriving business leading the way in the food process industry.  Although we specialize in custom automated food process equipment for meat, poultry, and dairy industries, Loos Machine also manufactures equipment for the wood and paper industries.  Since Kurt and Dennis bought Loos Machine they have expanded from the original building four times first in 1993 and again in 1998 with additions to the shop area, then in 2003 a new office was put up for the expanding company, finally another shop work area addition was added in 2005.  We have expanded the engineering department and can now custom design equipment to fit the customer needs.  The shop is equipped with high tech machines to keep with the changing times, including a new laser cutter purchased in 2001, CNC Lathe purchased in 2003, CNC Press Brake in 2004, and a CNC Machining Center in 2005.  Loos Machine has designed and fabricated equipment for many local companies as well as companies throughout the United States, and has even exported equipment to foreign countries.

Kurt & Dennis contribute much of their success to their employees, most of which, have been with the company for more than 10 years.  Their staff consists of 25 highly trained and dedicated people.  There are some new faces due to the expansion efforts but for the most part the staff has been with the company for a while, everyone gets along and works well together.  It makes the job easier to have people who can work so well together. Loos Machine has an excellent safety record and has not had any lost time accidents or serious injuries since being in business.

In all the years that Kurt & Dennis have owned Loos Machine Inc., they have been active in sponsoring various school and community events.
