Lead Mechanical Designer

Loos Machine & Automation, Inc. located in Colby, Wisconsin, is a Leading Manufacturer of Custom Automated Equipment for the Food Processing Industry. Due to recent expansion, we are currently seeking a LEAD MECHANICAL DESIGNER to add to our growing team.

The purpose of the LEAD MECHANICAL DESIGNER is to design & develop food grade equipment and systems from customer product specifications and our sales department.

 Responsibilties include:

  • Consult with engineering, sales and other personnel to design and develop new products and existing product modifications
  • Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, sheet metal, plastics, mathematics, and other physical sciences to complete designs and drawings
  • Use computer assisted drafting (CAD) software as well as any other software needed in the completion of job responsibilities, such as SolidWorks and AutoCad
  • Work with manufacturing to identify and resolve issues quickly to keep production going
  • Lead project teams
  • Assist customer service with field problems of technical nature
  • Manage engineering projects of moderate complexity
  • Willing to learn new products/processes/software/customer needs
  • Ability to work with a customer to generate designs/plans for projects
  • Generate new product ideas and produce improvement ideas

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design with 3-5 years working experience
  • Experience in AutoCAD & SolidWorks
  • Ability to handle self-directed project design responsibility and work constructively with the engineering team
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ensure all projects are completed before assigned deadlines
  • Follow safety procedures, both on and off-site
  • Travel to customer locations for field measurements of equipment and layout purposes (less than 10%)

PLC Programmer

Loos Machine & Automation, Inc. located in Colby, Wisconsin, is a Leading Manufacturer of Custom Automated Equipment for the Food Processing Industry. Due to recent expansion, we are currently seeking a PLC PROGRAMMER to add to our growing team.

Responsibilities include:

Electrical CAD design, electrical build, testing, and install/service.


Requirements include:

  • Rockwell Automation programming experience including: primarily design in RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio, and RSLogix 500
  • Rockwell Automation networking experience including: Ethernet/IP, DH+, Remote I/O, DeviceNet, etc.
  • Additional programming experience with other PLC manufacturers is a plus
  • Electrical design experience including: understanding electrical diagrams, troubleshooting
  • 10%-25% travel
  • Candidate must be dependable, able to work alone, and follow company standards and procedures

SS Welder/Fabricator

Loos Machine & Automation, Inc. located in Colby, Wisconsin, is a Leading Manufacturer of Custom Automated Equipment for the Food Processing Industry. Due to recent expansion, we are currently seeking two SS WELDER/FABRICATORS to add to our growing team.

We are currently seeking to fill (2) Full-time Welder/Fabricator positions.

Description and Requirements:

  • Full-time, First Shift Position
  • Some weekend work and travel may be required
  • Candidate should be self-motivated, team oriented, reliable and mechanically inclined
  • Good communication skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Time management and the ability to work under daily deadlines while complying with safety policies is essential to the success of our growing team
  • Read and interpret drawings, fit and fabricate metal components, and assemble structural forms using knowledge of welding and fabricating techniques
  • Knowledge of MIG and TIG welding processes
  • The ability to stand for extended periods
