Why Loos?

History

Established in 1902, by E.D. Loos, Loos Machine Shop has undergone a lot of changes in the last 100 plus years. E. D. Loos from 1902-1931, Sherman Loos from 1931-1981, finally Kurt Mertens and Dennis Baumgartner from 1981-present; shaping the business into the corporation it is today. Loos Machine Inc. has recently expanded to include an automation department, claiming the name Loos Machine & Automation.

Loos Machine & Automation provides engineering, machining, welding, fabricating and automation services. What had started out as a small maintenance and repair shop for local area farmers is now a thriving business paving the path in the food process industry. Although we specialize in custom automated food process equipment for meat/poultry, dairy/cheese, and pizza industries, Loos Machine & Automation also manufactures equipment for the wood and paper industries. Since Kurt and Dennis originally bought Loos Machine Inc. they have expanded from the original building four times. Once in 1993 and again in 1998 with additions to the shop area, then in 2003 a new office was put up for the expansion of our engineering department, and finally another shop addition in 2005. Loos Machine & Automation's engineers are qualified to custom design any equipment required by their customer.

To keep up with the changing times, the shop has been updated with some modern machines such as, a new Bystronic 4000 watt BYSTAR 3015-3 laser cutting system, a new CNC Machining Center and CNC Press Break. Loos Machine has designed and fabricated equipment for many local companies as well as companies throughout the United States and Worldwide. Some of our abroad work locations include Israel, Germany, Barbados and Argentina.
